Full title of Project: Values Across Space & Time (VAST)

The VAST project, funded by the European Union's Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme under Grant Agreement No 101004949, studies moral values across space and time, with an emphasis on those values considered fundamental for the European Union (human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality, rule of law, and human rights). The ultimate goal of VAST is the creation of VAST platform, which is a collection of knowledge and digital tools that can help in the analysis, research and communication of values. Through the digitalisation of tangible and intangible assets it aims to promote and enhance Europe’s cultural heritage.

VAST platform functionalities

Crucial part of the project will be the creation of the VAST platform. It will provide users such as scholars, value communicators and the general public with all the necessary tools (e.g. reusable toolkits, educational material, guidelines on methodologies and best practices) that will help them study and diffuse the perception and the evolution of values across time and space beyond the end of the project. Services will include the annotation of artifacts (textual and non-textual), the digitisation of intangible assets like participant stories and experiences and the activities’ repository ensuring the sustainability of the VAST paradigm.
