Full title of Project:Values Across Space & Time (VAST)

The VAST project, funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme under Grant Agreement No 101004949, studies moral values across space and time, with an emphasis on those values considered fundamental for the European Union (human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality, rule of law, and human rights). Through the digitalisation of tangible and intangible assets it aims to promote and enhance Europe’s cultural heritage.

Things I need to know

Purpose of research:
This questionnaire has been created with the scope to understand how the value communicators (i.e. museum curators, museum educators, scholars, directors, artists, creative teams and other stakeholders related to the communication of values) perceive the role that cultural institutions play in the diffusion of these values.

In addition, the survey aims to analyze the users’ expectations regarding the availability on the project platform of digital tools that could help in the values’ analysis, research and communication.
Voluntary Participation: Your participation is voluntary. You do not have to take part, if you do not want to. You may leave the group at any time for any reason.
Risks: By participating in this research you may reveal opinions that may lead to stigmatization and or discrimination, if identified.
Third parties: VAST may share your data solely with academic institutions within the context of the present research. No communication to the public will take place.
Storage : VAST shall store your data for three (3) years at the Istituto e Museo di Storia della Scienze (IMSS)

VAST platform functionalities

Crucial part of the project will be the creation of the VAST platform. It will provide users such as scholars, value communicators and the general public with all the necessary tools (e.g. reusable toolkits, educational material, guidelines on methodologies and best practices) that will help them study and diffuse the perception and the evolution of values across time and space beyond the end of the project. Services will include the annotation of artifacts (textual and non-textual), the digitization of intangible assets like participant stories and experiences and the activities’ repository ensuring the sustainability of the VAST paradigm.
